The EuroCloud awards aims at promoting Cloud Computing as a business innovation catalyst, awarding companies, products and solutions.
As a follow up of EuroCloud Portugal Call for Business 2010 edition’s Best-Of-The-Best award, which EuroCloud Portugal has proudly assigned to CardMobili, the EuroCloud Portugal Awards are now part of European Cloud Computing Award, promoted by EuroCloud.
The winners of the EuroCloud Portugal Awards will have the opportunity to foster their visibility within the European and abroad market. Every awarded project will be presented at the 2nd Eurocloud Congress alongside other European countries.
Who can apply?
EuroCloud Portugal Awards are aimed at providers of Cloud services that are active in the Portuguese market, namely:
- Any company that is established in Portugal can apply for the EuroCloud Portugal Awards. By ‘established’, we mean that the company has to either have their headquarters, or at least one office, in Portugal and its products or services are offered on the Portuguese market.
- Companies that are applying for the category ‘Start-Up’, can not have been active in the Portuguese market for longer than 3 years.
Notes:
- The winners of the EuroCloud Portugal Awards can automatically participate as nominees in the EuroCloud Europe Awards and the company and/or product will be presented at the European Congress in June.
- The application must be in English.
What kind of award categories are acceptable?
You can apply for the following categories:
Best Start Up
We are seeking startup companies that distinguish themselves through innovative and particularly future oriented Cloud solutions. There is a special focus on the originality and creativity of the solution and its potential for significant impact. (Terms and Conditions for Start Ups are described separately)
Best Cloud Service Product
This category is open to Cloud services that are best positioned for high market acceptance owing to the specific features provided. This special value can be determined by the capabilities offered; by the strong connectivity and interoperability of the service; and/or a more flexible and effective utilisation of datacenter resources. Of course, conformity to best practices in data security, data privacy and compliance is a must have requirement.
Best Case Study Example of Cloud Services for the Private Sector
In this category, the underlying business approach for a broad and comprehensive use of Cloud services will be evaluated in business enterprises. Along with the attractiveness of the offered services, the achievable benefits and competitive advantage for the customer are of interest, as well as new and pioneering marketing and sales concepts.
Best Case Study Example of Cloud Services for Public Sector
Also in this category, the underlying business approach for a broad and comprehensive use of Cloud services will be evaluated, but here the focus is on services for the government. Along with the attractiveness of the offered services, the achievable benefits for citizens or institutions are of interest as well as new and pioneering marketing and sales concepts.
What is the application process?
The application process starts with completing the online application form at http://www.eurocloud.pt/awards . You can also send us your completed application documents or any additional information to awards[AT]eurocloud.pt . These should include:
- A brief profile, with reasons for why your company should win the prize (max. 1 A4 page)
- Your product or business presentation. You have a free hand in the design of how this shall be presented – but please make sure that our judges are provided with meaningful information! Make clear, why your solution deserves an award.
What is the deadline?
The call for proposals will be closed at 14th of June.
How are nomination and winners determined?
Nominees and winners are determined by the judges. The decision of the panel of judges will be announced after the end of the application deadline to www.eurocloud.pt. The decision is final.
Should there be less than three companies that apply to a particular category, EuroCloud Portugal reserves the right not to award anyone for that category.

- Membership of EuroCloud is not a prerequisite for a participation.
Do application fees apply?
- No, the application for a EuroCloud Portugal Award is free.
